We are going to have a half-day excursion on Wednesday. The costs are included in the participation fee.
We are planning to have an excursion to Arvo Pärt Centre on Saturday, June 11 for those not in a hurry to leave. Once everyone’s travel plans are likely to be known, we will enquire about interest in such an excursion. You can also visit the centre on your own during the congress, which is at walking distance from the venue.
We are planning to arrange collecting (resp. other nature-oriented activities) trips for smaller groups after the congress, aiming at 3 nights in the field. The trips will depart from Laulasmaa SPA on Saturday, June 11. What exactly is going to happen, will depend on your interests and preferences. If interested, please contact Erki Õunap as soon as possible, and latest by April 15, 2022. Costs associated with these trips are not included in the participation fee – everything, including the costs, is open to negotiations.
Some collecting will be possible around the venue during the congress, the habitats are boring but good enough to satisfy first curiosity (“What is flying around here now?”).
Collectors, please note that the nights will be bright and battery powered light sources (like blacklight tubes) may not be efficient. We have some positive experience with Lepi-LED in June, though.
In practice, collecting insects has been unrestricted in Estonia, despite some inconsistencies in the law. We have arranged a formal permits for those who think that they may need one, see here. Estonia has signed the Nagoya convention but has not set any restrictions.
